Very Discouraging

Lots of folks are taking comfort in a SUSA poll stating that 60% disapprove of Bush's decision to commute Libby's sentence, while only 21% support it. Am I the only who's noticed that 17% thought he should have gotten a full pardon? That means that 38% of Americans think that there should be no rule of law. Danger, Will Robinson!

  • 17% of Americans probably think that John Wayne Gacy was a pretty good clown.

Seriously, I'm not so worried about that kind of number, at least not specifically -- it's likely the people who are getting Fox News intraveniously. A problem as a category in American society, but the point is that they are not the majority some would like to pretend they are.

  • But my point was when you add the numbers together, it turns out that nearly 40% of Americans (according to this poll) don't think Libby should do any time. What the hell!
