The New Madrid fault is actually quite huge -- but not very active. If/when it becomes active, it will be something out of one of those made for TV disaster movies...

PS you all are gonna want to look into actual earthquake building codes... I hear only CA actually makes everyone follow the strict stuff. - 
         
I was bummed that I didn't feel it. I used to live on a major fault in Washington State, and I never felt an earthquake there either.
