Matt Yglesias presented a bit of trivia based on the Bureau of Labor Statistics data, pointing to a positive correlation between education and alcohol consumption. I wish I could truthfully say that my first thought on the seeing the chart was "surely education is serving as a proxy for income." Alas, what I was really thinking was "wait, who only spends $600 a year on booze? The survey respondents are fibbing!"
